Outfit of the day: Acing the interview

What you need:

1. A suit in navy or charcoal
Save black for funerals and formal events.

2. Dress shirt in white or a subtle color.
I’m all for color and texture, but if you’re not comfortable with it, this is not the time to start experimenting. Whatever gives you the most confidence and the firmest handshake works best.

3. A patterned tie.
Even if you are color-phobic, a tie is a great place to bring in some pizazz (that’s right, i said pizazz. deal with it) to your outfit.

4. A good pair of shoes that are polished.
A nice black or brown wingtip works with both navy and gray.

5. A grown-up bag
To carry resumes, business cards, and notes – NOT made of nylon, mesh, or is a backpack

6. A watch
Because if you’re late, you’re out of luck.
