Hey Style GF, I've been growing out my hair for a long time now. It's pushing 7 1/2 inches. I have this great auburn red hair color which is "really pretty" (not my words). I personally love it and put in the extra effort to take care of it, but what does the female perspective think of it? -Sean

A question about your overall look: is “really pretty” what you’re going for? If not, you might want to re-think the hairstyle, just a little bit.

I don’t doubt the color is indeed a lovely auburn, but it seems your hair is something you’d want girls to notice, but not necessarily what they point out. I’m trying to picture the length, and I’m thinking you can tuck it behind your ears, but it’s not long enough for a ponytail (at least not one that gets all your hair in); is that about right? If so, that length is certainly within the bounds of “I’m doing this on purpose.” And certainly, I can think of a few celebs pushing the almost-long hair boundaries; Brad Pitt and Ashton Kutcher immediately sprang to mind.

But go any longer and I start imagining you brushing it a hundred strokes on each side before you go to bed every night, a la Marcia Brady. If that’s not the image you want to present to girls, I might get it trimmed. Your hair will still be auburn, but your hairstyle won’t be so “pretty.”
