About the Author
Megan Collins has loved men’s fashion ever since the second grade, when her older brother handed down his beloved pullover Milwaukee Bucks Starter jacket. She was seven and couldn’t name a single player on the team, but she adored that coat and wore it every day, stopping only when she found herself pairing it with shorts and sandals in June.
Since then, Collins has gone from wearing guys’ clothing to helping guys pick the clothes out on their own.
In 2009, the Brooklyn-based writer started Style Girlfriend, a weekly column dispensing sartorial advice to guys who want to look good, but don’t want to think too much about what they’re wearing. The column quickly gained a following among this group, as well as with their girlfriends and wives.
In August of 2010, McClatchy-Tribune took notice, and the column was picked up for national syndication. Since then, Style Girlfriend has appeared regularly in newspapers including the Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald and Charlotte Observer.
In January 2011, stylegirlfriend.com went live. The site is a collection of the weekly columns, along with other original content aimed at helping men live their most stylish life. According to Collins, that means a life lived with intention in all areas.
“’Style Girlfriend” is all about providing positive, constructive support to guys, helping them live a more stylish life,” Collins said.
